I was 50 years old when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer on July 3, 2009. My physician had been monitoring my PSA levels for several months because they were relatively high for my age. Eventually, he recommended a biopsy which confirmed there was cancer. I had surgery in August of 2009; however, tests after to the surgery still showed high PSA levels. My physician recommended radiation.
When searching for radiation oncologists I choose Dr. Jim Mason at Wildomar Radiation Therapy Center based on recommendations and the great reputation that preceded him. I completed my 37th and final radiation therapy treatment on June 24, 2010 and am feeling excellent. I am coming up on my second follow-up appointment, but since completing radiation, my PSA levels have dropped back down to normal.
Dr. Mason and the staff at Wildomar Radiation Therapy Center were wonderful to work with. My treatment required me to make daily visits, so the group really became like a second family to me. They were an excellent support system during a very trying and difficult period in my life.
Another huge benefit to me of being treated at Wildomar Radiation Therapy Center was the fact that it was so close to my home. I live in Murrieta, CA, about seven miles from the facility. The next closest treatment center for me would have been in San Diego, over sixty miles away. I have worked in law enforcement for over 31 years, and during my treatment, I was able to maintain my schedule by going in for treatment early in the morning so that I could still get to work on time.
I am very glad that I made the decision to receive my treatment at Wildomar Radiation Therapy Center. The care I received was top notch, and I am thankful today that I am feeling healthy and can spend time with my children.
