When I was told I had breast cancer, I was prepared for the worst; however, I considered myself lucky when I found out that my cancer was in Stage 1 with no lymph node involvement.
Throughout my treatment process, I have received everything from 12 weeks of chemotherapy, 33 radiation treatments, an additional nine months of herceptin infusions and two surgeries, but on February 1, 2010, my most recent mammogram showed that I was (and still am) cancer free!
Although my experience has not been a cake walk, compared to others, my road toward becoming cancer free has been relatively easy due to the outstanding physicians and staff I worked with at Radiation Oncology Associates. Everyone was timely, thorough, expeditious, patient-focused and quick to provide me with any information I ever needed. However, most importantly, they saved my life.
Dr. Trenkner formed partnerships with my other oncologists to make sure the process was seamless for me.
Since my diagnosis, great things have happened for me. I spent precious time with my daughter during my treatments, I have a new job that I love, I have met wonderful people throughout this journey, and best of all, I've been reminded that I am a strong person and that life it grand.
